Startup
Costs: Under $1000.00
Earnings Potential:
The real estate market fluxuates greatly.
During a boom, this business has an
extremely high income potential; well
over $200,000 per year; however during
lean times it is more difficult to
make that kind of a living.
Special Knowledge or Skills:
This is a state licensed
career. You will need to take a real
estate appraisal course and take the
state exam.
What you will be doing: As
a real estate appraiser, you will
be estimating the value of property.
This requires in depth knowledge of
construction methods, the area surrounding
the property, economic trends and
more. An appraiser evaluates the condition
of the property and compares the property's
value to similar properties in the
area.
Where to Start: As
always, Business Levers recommends
you start with a business plan. Though
we couldn't find one written specifically
for starting a Real Estate Appraisal
business, you can start with this
downloadable plan for small businesses.
You will need to take an exam. We
found several preparation books. You
can also find a course. Following
are some sites we found. Do your own
Google search.
